Just ordered your new book. The late New College professor Cris Hassold presented a paper on the Bomarzo and other gardens at a Florida conference about ten years ago. Will try to locate and send.

thank you Linda. How fascinating-I'd love to read the paper. New College has its own enchanted corner of Italy. When I was a student at Eckerd, I visited the campus several times with friends. Thank you also for ordering the book.

A wonderful post. You know I love this garden, too. :-)

(And for all reading this... read this book. "Signatures in Stone" is a wonderful, dream-like novel with lovely twists and surprises.

Riveting. Tu as lu Le Grand Meaulnes, and perhaps Fowles, about such spaces?

Yes -- read the former after having read that Fowles drew inspiration from The Magus. One of my favorite books of all times. A book I would like to live in.

You might want to look at his coffee table/photo books “The Tree” and “Islands,” the texts of which address similar themes of place, mystery, and surprise. Is Fowles now a “neglected” writer or are readers of our generation similarly becoming outdated?
